Funny Bunny.

I popped into NHK today to bid farewell to my ex-students and the fine folks in charge handed me a balloon-bunny. Pretty cool. I may stop in there weekly just to get their balloon hand-me-downs.

Here is a mishmash of merchandise that pal-Alex requested for his homeroom students. He's got them working on a D&D-type scheme and he asked me for some creatures for them to use as avatars (or some such nonsense, I really had NO idea what he really wanted.) So I dug through some of my wacky bags of goodies and this is what I handed him...
(I like Koizumi the best.)

I have no idea if he'll use any of these, but he couldn't ask for a greater mishmash. Now what am I going to do with a rubber bunny?

The Family Jewels.

I thought I'd finish up my retrospective of accessories with my mother's rings. When she was hospitalized with a semi-paralysing stroke (over 14 years ago now!), she entered the local hospital and stayed in a convalescent wing for a decade. When that hellhole* closed down, we moved her to a much nicer home in Toronto and she seems to be much better off.

(*Paramedics upon arrival to an accident scene made the decision to take her to another hospital further away if they had a pretty good chance of recovery. If they were destined for the Choir Invisible, they were sent to PMH. In a rather striking coincidence, upon arrival at the hospital, my mom's wedding ring somehow disappeared! During her stay, we'd lost count of the amount of roommates she'd had.)

A few years back, we the family decided to sell her home and split up the cash amongst her four kiddies to be distributed upon her death. Her other assets were split up democratically by us with the others getting her larger items and I got her fine china and much of her jewelry. Here are her rings and a few chains, some gold I gave her and a lovely cameo. The 3 glass figures were given to her by me and the cufflinks are mine.

Enjoy the Ringu 2!

We shall return to silliness on the morrow.

With This Ring.

Kudos to all the Carl Cronies who put up with me for the last three years. Now I have a brand new audience for my oyaji gaggu! Furthermore, thanks to the ladies at Carl's for the cookies!

Father Mike made his triumphant return to the Chapel and successfully wed a couple without mixing up names or handing the groom the wrong ring! Hopefully this will be the trend now for I have 5 more nuptials planned in June.

As of July, I'll be unable to attend any ceremonies on Sundays because I begin a new job next week from Sunday to Thursday. That's right, I have actually landed a f/t job in my hometown of Sendai and I'll be teaching adults so no more diseases will be caught from those snot-nosed rugrats. More details as I get into the thick of it, but for now, I'm a happy camper.
Looking back to this post's title, here are some of the rings I have amassed in my UFO Catching. Once again, several have been given out to friends and sometimes complete strangers.

I have my only free night for a long while, so I'm going to watch リング. Thanks to the YouTubers I can watch the whole thing with subtitles for the very first time. I saw it years ago in Japanese only and it freaked me out then, I'm expecting similar results tonight. Do me a favour, don't phone me in two hours!)

Lastly, check out Ringu-neko!

Revenge of the Geeks.

I'm going to take a break from the family jewels and instead of showing off my rings, I'm going to showcase my Towels! As any good Hitchhikers fan knows, today is Towel Day and I gave a brief description of it last last year when I showed off my Star Wars towels.

It also happens to be GPDand The Glorious May 25th in honour of Discworld but I've never read Prachett's works (I know, blasphemy.) If you click that link above, you'll learn all about:

Your Geekly Rights

The right to associate with other nerds.
The right to have few friends (or none at all).
The right to not leave your house.
The right to not like football or any other sport.
The right to be out of style.
The right to be overweight and nearsighted.
(With great power comes great) Responsibilities
Try to be nerdier than anyone else.
If there is a discussion about something geeky, you must give your opinion.
Don't be a generalised geek. You must specialise in something.
Attend every nerdy movie on opening night and buy every geeky book before anyone else.
Wait in line on every opening night. If you can go in costume or at least with a related T-shirt, all the better.

But enough about Geeks (remember when they used to be known as the carnival freaks who'd bite the heads off chickens and snakes?) and let's cotton to the Towels. I've also included facecloths and mini-towelettes and except for the very last one, I haven't included handkerchiefs. See how many characters you can name!
Note: I photographed all but Bleach on top of my washer and I didn't bother to Photoshop any of them so you can see their relative sizes. I've also included a few sports/beer towels because they're cool, not geeky.

Happy Towel & Geek Pride Day everyone!!
