Best Easter Movie Ever!

Recently I got sucked into a violence debate on a Facebook post about Watership Down. Since I just happened to have the movie pamphlet handy, I thought I'd showcase the highlights as an early Easter present.

I'll let the artwork speak for itself and offer up little editorializing.

General Woundwort freaked me out when I first saw this.

Some letters from fans.

 The cast...

Zero Mostel makes the best seagull this side of Jonathon Livingston.

Art Garfunkel sang "Bright Eyes" (link to the opening credits.)

The back cover.

As you can see, this movie had an effect on other artists, such as Tezuka Osamu!

Well I'm on the topic of Easter, here are some KitKats that I will be bringing to Canada as presents. Possibly the best tasting ones I've had to date.

Perhaps more appropriate for Pancake Tuesday, yet I suppose Lent is now over so you can feast on Pancake-flavoured Kitkats!

A Quintet of Kaiju!

These five little guys are part of a promotion by Dydo and their Barista Coffee.*

These  ゴジラ デスクトップアイテムズ (Godzilla Desktop items) (Not pictured...King Ghiddorah, he was sold out.)

Godzilla still mint in package.

I mistakenly thought that Godzilla's function was to hang on to the rim of a drinking glass. Click this link and you'll discover I was wrong.**

Minilla is an elastic band holder and King Ghiddorah is a earphone reel.

Mecha-Godzilla doesn't stick well to a rounded surface though I'm sure he'll stick well to a mirror or iPhone. (Once again, click that link to see them in action.

My favourite is the Mothra larva who acts as a 名刺 (Meishi or business card) holder. I didn't have a card handy so a playing card works as well.

*Here is the homepage for Dydo and a picture of the goods in action.

**For those of you who don't want to click the link, here is the actual use of Godzilla...a pen holder.

I have purchased a few spares to give away to pals when I go to Toronto next week. Let me know if you want one!

Get Jiggy.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. My annual tradition is to dress gaudily in green, have a few pints at the Ha'penny Bridge and snap a few photos with the lasses. This year did not disappoint.

 The band played on.

It was a fun night. Alex and I reminisced about our days 3 decades ago when we'd wander the streets of Toronto and go comic shopping, play with toys at my place and watch odd, now classic cult movies. I was the only adult in his then teenager life who didn't condescend to him and I became his Nerd-hero (Nerdero).

I'm waiting for a video to upload but it's taking too long and it's past my bedtime. So I'll revise the post later. Unfortunately until I do upload it, this post's title won't make any sense.

REVISION:
I re-uploaded it and now here is a vid of two lasses and a lad doing a jig!

As an added bonus, here are a few pictures taken by other attendees last night.

B vs. S

For a change, the new Batman vs. Superman movie (NOT Batman v. Superman. It's a battle, not a lawsuit!) is being released in Japan almost simultaneously with North America. Unfortunately, it's released on the day that I fly to Toronto! That hasn't stopped me from buying a pair of advanced tickets though. Mainly because it comes with a nifty free clear poster. I'd like all four but I don't think I'll want to see the movie that many times.

The goods are beginning to trickle in. I found this pair of glasses at a Supermarket over the weekend.

Buy four pops and get one glass. Since I am travelling home soon, I picked up a few as souvenirs. (Like a case's worth, but they were on sale.)

That little tab above is attached to each bottle. You can win something; I'm not sure what, but it doesn't matter for I was a loser (はずれ hazure) with every bottle.

At the movies last week, I had a bucket of popcorn (Half Caramel/ Half Salt) to celebrate Batman vs Superman, Dawn of Justice. (Note: the Japanese pronunciation is Batoman vee-ess Supaa-man, Jyasutisu no Tanjou.)

Nothing else in Japan yet though Canada has minted a new silver coin, looks cool, is only 20$ and is worth 20$.

Want!!
