Remember, remember the Fifth of GOvember! It's Guy Fawkes Night/ Bonfire Night/ Fireworks Night primarily in Great Britain, though some Canadians in Newfoundland also celebrate it.
You may know this as the "V for Vendetta" visage, or Anonymous, or an easy way to get yourself arrested in Hong Kong. Others will know it as a Guy Fawkes mask. Feel free to burn me in effigy.
I don't have a Burning Godzilla handy at the moment, so here are a few images I scammed from the web of Gojira aflame.
I took the day off from watching Godzilla flicks and instead watched a few alternate Kaiju films.
First up, The Giant Behemoth from the UK in 1959 which has special effects by Willis O'Brien and a really high body count.
Next up was The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, about a rampaging Rhedosaurus, with contributions by two Rays, Bradbury who wrote "The Fog Horn" upon which it was based and Harryhausen who provided the special effects.
Ray Harryhausen also contributed the third movie, It Came from Beneath the Sea about a slithering sixtopus as he called it because he didn't have the budget for an eight-legged creature.
I just happen to have a figure of this "pus".
Be sure to click the Harryhausen label and you can dig through my Ray archives.
Spare a penny for the Guy and go buy some fireworks!
