The Truth Is Somewhere!

I'm way behind on what I wanted to talk about because my afternoon was taken up watching Disclosure Day. It's pretty: pretty long, pretty dull, pretty actors, pretty CGI animals. Besides, I had early morning and early evening lessons. So I'm chucking all my previously planned Countdown to Halloween tidbits and instead am switching to Aliens! Go to the Disclosure Day website and watch a few previews if you wish. (For some reason, I can't remember how to embed a video.)

This movie really could have used Mulder and Sculley. Speaking of which, here's an Alien and a Caveman that I just happen to have handy.

This Dover Demon looks like it could have stepped out of Area 51.

For today's Gojira tribute, here he's being transported to Planet X by an Alien ship in

怪獣大戦争 "Invasion of the Astro-Monster".

I was planning on featuring a picture daily from this fun book.

This isn't exactly extraterrestrial, but I suppose it could be.

Our most famous aliens are probably this crew.

Not entirely alien though these cookies look as though they could be Flying Saucers.

Finally, for a Gatcha/UFO Catcher entry, let's go with some Star Wars!

I recommend you try some of the other possibly more organized Bloggers out there participating in the Countdown to Halloween such as an old pal of mine, Erick at the Wonderful Wonderblog !

Hopefully, I'll have my act together by tomorrow. Maybe I'll go home early for a change.

Love Me Tendo.

Drove out to Yamagata yesterday in order to enjoy the changing leaves in the rain. (Not as enjoyable as you'd think.) En route, we stopped at HillSide Mall, which in the past has always been a lot of fun. BUT, the discount Toy Store has now become a trading card (mainly Pokemon) outlet. I did pick up a sticker and four cool postcards though.

Hey wait a sec! They're neither stickers nor postcards. Just printed off images on cardstock. I'm beginning to think that this kitsch store is not wholly legit. (Candy Land--still cool place though.)

Here are a few of the decorations around the joint.

Next stop, Otachi (Mandai-clone) in Tendo where I tried to sell some loot. They offered even less of a pittance than expected so I declined to give them a ton of items for peanuts. Therefore, they lost out on forcing me to spend my earnings on a chance to win this.

I did get a 9-tailed Kitsune* for my friend, Mr. Fox.

Normally, I would have picked up these Jumping Chinese Ghosts. But there were only three available, not the set.

Oh well, their loss.

The next Mandai (Otachi) in Yamagata, had a pretty nice Halloween display. This gal is dispensing candies to little ones who won at UFO Catcher.

We decided to check out one more place, a Book-Off that we've never been to before.

On the way there, it was slow going, so I had plenty of time to take photos of this Love Hotel.

The Hard-Off was very old school with lots of cheap and not so cheap items. On spec, I picked up this coffin for two bucks. No idea of its contents although its original retail price was close to 30 bucks.

It's a pair of Twisted Wonderland Towels.

At the Book-off across the street in an Aeon Mall, I found this Bat-Man.

Much to my surprise, they had a fairly inexpensive large pumpkin for sale. Details on that later...

I did pick up some nice Snoopy socks.

*Speaking of 9-tailed Kitsune, It just happens to be the Yokai of the day!

These powerful Yokai can be nasty or auspicious. It's best to stay on their good side.

Have I shown these already? I need to search through a few boxes for more Venoms.

Before bed, I just crashed and watched some Halloween specials I'd never seen. Such as Mad Mad Mad Monsters, fairly lame Rankin/Bass production.

Then The Flintstones New Neighbours (1980). Not bad, though I preferred the Gruesomes.

To top off the night, I watched a clip show of spooky Bugs toons. Bugs Bunny's Howl-een (1977). The clips were badly edited and the narrative between each clip was meh. Still, any Bugs is good Bugs.

Finally, I'll leave you with Garage Sale Finds, the kind of blog that showcases some eerie items one might find at a Garage Sale (or Mandai or Book-Off).

Later tonight, I'll show off the pumpkin I carved. Hopefully it'll photograph better in the dark, right now I'm not getting any correct guesses.

The Truth Is In Here!

I was undecided with what Countdown to Halloween entry I'd begin, until I saw the season finale of Resident Alien and my mind was made up. Late last November (yes, it has been a while since I've blogged regularly), I was kidnaped by my friend and driven off to a mystery location in Fukushima. Sure enough, the mystery was solved and I found myself at the Iino UFO Museum. So let's harken back and pay a visit to the UFO no Sato (UFO Village) and take a look at some of the exhibits on display. (Click either link for some deets.)

Like a big dummy, I had forgotten my phone, so I had to depend on my kidnaper for photos. Fortunately, he's a far superior photographer than I so these pics turned out great!

Here is a blurb that Google has translated for me to describe it.

The Iinomachi district, located in the north of Nakadori in Fukushima Prefecture, southwest of Fukushima City, the prefectural capital, is widely known as the village of UFOs.
Since ancient times, many sightings of luminous objects have been seen around Senganmori, which is located in the northern part of the Iinomachi district. In addition, Senganmori itself is a mountain full of mysteries, and it is known that there are many Mystery Zones around it.
The UFO Fureaikan opened in 1992 as a facility that collects and exhibits such mysterious research materials and materials related to UFOs and other mysteries.
After that, the surrounding environment such as the panorama cafeteria (UFO product hall) and UFO plaza were improved, and together with the ancient Kote Shrine and the mysterious megaliths, it formed a great mystery experience zone.

As one enters, one is greeted by a friendly Alien. Those are the best kind.

They have a display of classified CIA documents though they're under glass so you can't declassify them.

Several Aliens are standing by for photo ops. My clone and I posed for this.

A few other Aliens...

My abductor.

Here's a classification of the various Aliens one might encounter (stay away from the Greys, they are nasty.)

I would not be surprised to find out that this guy is the inspiration for Harry and his ilk on Resident Alien.

There's a 3D Theatre screening the "Mystery of the Senganmori" albeit in Japanese. Outside the facility is a trail one can follow to investigate the Senganmori phenomena for yourself.

Beware of vipers!

Proof that it was indeed mid-Autumn.

Nice view!

The trail may have gone further, though we stopped here.

Onwards to the Shrine.

Inside the restaurant/ gift shop were a couple of cute sculptures.

I bought a Clear File (of course).

I also bought a little badge of Komora, a Kaiju-esque visitor from another world.

And I also snagged this little guy who I have hanging from my bedroom light so I can find my way in the dark.

All in all, a nice little museum with shockingly very little X-Files or Sci-Fi influence within.

I plan to add some LootCrate goodies, and garments to my daily Countdown haul, here are some recent X-Files loot. Both of these are Notebooks.

I wrote about this card game a few years back, be sure to click the label X-Files to find it.

One of the few X-Files figures I have. I think I have Scully on an examination table somewhere.

Though it has a greenish hue, that dude looks like one of the evil Greys. Check out this sneak peek at Season 3 of Resident Alien.

As soon as I can figure out how to add a gadget to by blog showcasing this year's Countdown, you are but a click away from the rest of the Countdown bloggers. Meanwhile use this. Since it's kind of related to the above check out Shades of Gray for some cool Black and White pics.

I'll leave you with a look at the t-shirt that I've worn today.

Hopefully tomorrow will get a little spookier. Though there is nothing creepier than an anal probe!
