Happy Batday to You!

The third Saturday in September has been designated Batman Day and I almost forgot about it! Earlier this week, I had framed my profile pic in the Bat-Signal and here's what it looks like:

Other than that, I'd neglected to do anything batty today until I recalled the date. (I blame the Mad Hatter!) So what I've done is just look around my room without digging through boxes or cupboards and see what Bat-paraphernalia I have sitting around. First up are some Bobbleheads that forewarn me of impending earthquakes.

I have yet to try and assemble this Brickhead, I'm afraid of losing some pieces in the process.

What follows are a few figures I've acquired over the last few years.

Without picking up the display case and jostling my Batmobiles, I've taken a picture from afar.

Unbelievably, the only Funko I have of Batman!

When I was home last spring, I emptied out my storage locker and sold 20 boxes of books. I managed to salvage this novelization.

Not as quite good as Ninja Batman, Samurai Batman runs a close second.

I scored this Big-Little Book-sized book of Detective Comics covers and decided to crack it open.

My favourite ally/foe of Batman is Manbat so I chose 5 Neal Adams covers featuring our Chiropteran friend.

For a serious discussion on Manbat, I suggest you watch this:

In honour of my friend Yvonne who I nicknamed Batgirl, here is her debut.

Finally, my proudest possession is this autographed photo by Adam West!

I've put out a request of my Tokyo pals to try and take a photo of the Bat-Signal as it shines on Shibuya 109, I hope I get some responses. Check out this list for the Bat-Signal nearest you.

REVISION:
I managed to find a pic on the net of the Bat-Signal and here is a link to a countdown to the turn-on!

It's In The Cards.

Happy 90th Anniversary of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. May your heart be riddled with bullets!

In a slightly less gruesome sentiment, I hope everyone else is enjoying the day. I spent the evening alone watching Lucifer and Gotham, yet I'm not at all disappointed by that. I also pigged out on some of the chocolates given to me by the female teachers at one of my schools today. I tried to only eat one, but was unsuccessful in doing so.

Below was a homemade choco given to all from one of the older gals at work.

This wonderfully origami-wrapped treat was provided to me from my favourite school.

Imagine my disappointment at the contents.

I saw Aquaman again last night with a friend and she gave me a triple treat of tartlettes. I had them for breakfast.

On Monday, our school lunch included a heart-shaped meat patty. Aww.

These treats may not have been Valentine-oriented yet simply omiyage (souvenirs). Yummy though.

I have spent Valentine's for the last week by providing my students with Valentine Cards to give out to their school pals. 90% of the kids chose Marvel cards, DC just didn't catch their fancy.

I picked these up last year on sale.

Most of the kids (99% of the girls and 80% of the boys) enjoyed filling out the cards and giving them to their friends. And they each gave a card to their teacher as well. I can't find the other two (Avengers and Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman right now), this Super Hero Girls was the least popular card. (NOTE: I have over 1000 students, so they all had photocopies of the above cards, I can't afford to give them all away!)

About two dozen kids gave me a card. Only two gals personalized them.

This box of cards had fallen out of the bag and slipped under my car seat. I didn't notice them until today. I suspect they would have been even more popular.

I think I'll give out these stickers next week.

All in all, it was a fun week.

Happy Batday to You!

This year, Batman Day falls on September 23rd. Click that link for details. I'm celebrating BD by fighting a head cold and being lazy. Not very Batman-like, I'm afraid. What follows are recent Batman features in my vast accumulation of stuff.

He'll be guesting in a couple of movies in the near future, including DCスーパーヒーローズvs鷹の爪団 (DC Superheroes vs. ひみつけっしゃたかのつめ or Eagle Talon) courtesy of FROGMAN.

Watch this YouTube and you'll see how incredibly great and incredibly bad the animation of this movie will be.

This may clear it up or make it more confusing:

I bought an advanced ticket for this solely because I received this as a present. I am SO curious about this forthcoming movie. I'll either loathe it or love it.

The Heroes...

Voila! The cast...

A movie I know I'll like is Justice League!

I bought an advanced ticket for it as well and as a bonus, I received a much larger poster than I anticipated of the hero of my choice.

I chose Aquaman (sorry I cropped your head off!)

Here is a flyer for the movie:

And a mini-pamphlet with some info about the gang.

And of course, Batman!

Just last week I discovered a handful of figures from Batman v. Superman in the UFO Catcher that weren't around when the movie was released.

Disappointingly, the first one I won turned out to be Wonder Woman!s logo. It wasn't until a week later that I successfully won WW herself.

Finally, I found this little bag featuring Batgirl and other DC gals and it'll make a dandy present for my friend, Yvonne, who I dubbed Batgirl a few years back. (Do you understand the connection?)

Happy Batday!
