Godzilla, King of the Monsters Comics.

It's almost the end of GOvember and I haven't showcased any of the Godzilla-esque Comics that I own. I'll provide a few covers daily until month's end. I'll start with the Best Series Ever! (Slightly out of order.)

Be sure to click on the pic to Kaijusize it.

Today I watched King Kong (1976, TV version with extra footage) and King Kong (2005), the Director's Extended version. I'm not sure what was added to either, although I can think of something missing, mainly some of Jessica Lange's naughty bits in one scene.

Yesterday, when I bought a ton of Kuji, I lamented that I didn't clean out this one store of all its Ichiban-Kuji thus ensuring that I get the A, B & Last One prizes. I went back there today and, sure enough, someone had liquidated all its prizes. Sigh. I went to a neighbouring store and chose three random cards and scored the A Prize!. Now I don't need to buy any more and try and complete my set in the second-hand market.

I chose Godzilla vs. Biolante because it is one of my faves and since it has a cool poster.

I notice that there are five Godzilla movies on my Twitch channel tomorrow. Not working does have its advantages. (I won't be making money, though neither will I be spending any.)

Attack of the Giant Lottery!

I knew this was coming, fortunately I've saved up a few shekels to afford it. Yes, a new Ichiban Kuji has arrived. I got extremely lucky in my first three tries. I scored the rare B prize, a Godzilla Minus One figure and two magnets.

It went slightly downhill from there, several more magnets, a handful of acrylic stands and some posters. It appears that the Godzilla Minus One poster is the first to be chosen, it had disappeared from each venue I tried. (Four other venues.) Here are the magnets I did and didn't win.

Biolante is well represented. 3 separate magnets, including a single branch (I call Shenanigans!) So not too bad, 7/10 with only one double Anguirus. (That's cool, he's my favourite non-Godzilla Kaiju.)

The magnets are chosen at random, as are the Acrylic guys. I got 4/18 with no doubles.

The poster seem to be recreations of the theatrical release posters. Nice big B-3 size, perfect for wallpapering a room. Here are the five I chose.

Now only 25 more to go!

GOvember is almost over! Will I be able to complete the set? Stay tuned...

Gameraversary!

A last minute decision to take a quick trip to Morioka on Saturday meant no post on Saturday. A last minute bout of writer's block and and all-day apartment cleaning session meant no entry on Sunday. Now Monday is almost up and I have some catching up to do.

To help pay for the trip, I brought along a couple of items that would bring me some spare moolah. Such as a couple of large Gamera that were never opened and take up a lot of space. Did you know it was the 58th Anniversary of Gamera's debut?

Mickey Mouse turned 95 as well, this should get me a few bucks.

Last time, I had some success in selling some of my model kits (the doubles, naturally), so I tried again.

Our first stop heading north was at the Mandai in Furukawa that does not offer much cash for goods, so I saved my items. I did though make a purchase on credit with the hopes of making back that money. I bought 5 Kuji and was the first one to do so at this store. I chose my five and the first one I opened was the top prize!!!

Woohoo! I also received some secondary prizes such as three magnets, an art card, and an acrylic stand

I sold my goods at Morioka Mandai* (*not called Mandai, rather Yorozuya) and made 5400 yen. I bought a total of 6 Kuji at 900 each. Basically, the above items were free!

Not much else of note on this trip, it was rainy and foggy so sightseeing was useless. I did find a Family Mart that sold the Godzilla coffee and this time I got a medium which comes in a red cup!

On the way back, we discovered that another Yorokuza has opened up near Hanamaki so a fact-finding mission was in order.

They have the cutest little mascot, I wish they had one for sale.

I didn't buy one, though this tentacle goes in one ear and out the other. Cool!?!

I bought a towel and an enormous art card and got two acrylic movie titles. This place has the largest selection of Godzilla goods outside of Akihabara! Next time I go, I'll bring a list.

All in all, Saturday was a really good productive day!
Sunday was spent sleeping in, lazing around and then cleaning out my desk area, which took ALL NIGHT LONG (it hasn't been cleaned in a while).

So apart from this, I don't have any Godzilla goods to show off from yesterday.

I sure do wish that floppy discs were usable, those screen savers are nice.

I need to watch the new Monarch Netflix show, so I can review it later...

Ton o' Towels!

By the time I write this, Towel Day will have passed us by.

I'd been meaning to do this all weekend, and finally got around to emptying a drawer full of towels that are still in their plastic wrapping.

Quite the hodgepodge there. When necessary, I'll open up the plastic and take a pic of the entire towel. For example, these two Godzilla towels that I won't put back in the drawer and use them as seat covers for my car. These I acquired via UFO Catcher.

This little Mothra towel is one that I think I'll use as a handkerchief. I have nearly a complete set of these...somewhere.

Hey, I have two T-Shirts in that drawer too.

In a similar vein , here's an Evangelion towel.

A couple of Dragonball and a One Piece.

No idea where I got this nor what it is.

A couple of Lupin III from The Castle of Cagliostro.

A mini Moomin from KFC.

Two Snoopy ones.

Rilakuma. This is very soft and I don't think it's a towel but rather a wrap-around shawl.

I never noticed that Sailor Moon is such a metalhead.

Of course, Disney makes an appearance.

I'll have to add this to my Halloween costume bag for the kiddies to wear for dress up.

Not sure when or where I landed this Alice. It is gorgeous!

Not a clue what this is.

Rugby towels given away when you buy four pops.

Probably acquired at a St. Patrick's Day party.

I don't remember buying this. Glad I scored a bit of history.

This Ninjago came as a freebie when I saw the Lego movie.

Finally a pair of UFO Caught Marvel beach towels. These things are taller than I am.

I do believe that when next I travel to Canada (if ever), most of these will be omiyage to be given to friends and family.

Are you a hoopy frood who really knows where his towel is!
