Today's entry in GOvember was to watch a couple of Mothra movies. Mothra vs. Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Mothra.
I preferred the former to the latter, though both are fun.
Mothra makes another appearance a few years later in Godzilla vs. Mothra: Tokyo S.O.S. Hopefully my Twitch station will air it soon so I don't have to go seek it out.
Try and find these mini dioramas in that video.
Play Ball!
Now that's a Towering Inferno!
There is also a Rainbow Bridge at Niagara Falls and en route to Asgard.
A slimy larva should fit right in with the politicians.
Back when this was first released, I think I saw it at Roppongi Hills!
One of these days, I need to go on a Godzilla rampage tour of Tokyo.
Surprisingly, the above mini-dioramas came with a Georgia coffee as a freebie!
I don't normally drink coffee, but I sure did when these came out!
Day 17 of GOvember finds me in a pleasant state for a change.
Sure it was a gloomy rainy day all day but as I type this now, it's serene and peaceful.
The morning started out great, I found a Family Mart that wasn't sold out of Godzilla coffee cups.
After work, I found a binder at a Bookoff for two bucks.
And I popped into Mandai to see if I could win a stuffed Goji. No such entity. BUT, there was a box of cookies...
It took a few tries but I was ultimately successful.
And you get a large sticker (1 of 6)
The cookies themselves weren't to my taste, so my students next week will get a treat.
Uh oh. A new Godzilla Kuji starts tomorrow! Caveat Emptor!!
I've just completed watching two Godzilla movies and am now ready to deliberate. Movie One was Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla 2 which includes a special guest appearance by Rodan (ラドン) who has been caring for an egg. Whoa! It hatches and it's not her baby, it's in fact Baby Godzilla! Godzilla and Rodan have a battle at one point and destroy Sendai Station!! Woohoo, nice to see the hometown get a mention.
After Rodan transformed into Fire Rodan, he began flying south from Adonoa Island at high speed, with one of the cities he was sighted over being Sendai. Rodan flew low over Sendai Station, triggering several massive explosions as he continued on his journey to intercept and rescue BabyGodzilla.
Check it out for yourself!
Well, the MechaGodzilla kills Godzilla; Rodan dies; Rodan's essence sprinkles over Godzilla; Godzilla is re-energized. Then Godzilla walks off into the sunset with his son in tow. Happy ending!
Movie two is a treat, featuring my second favourite Kaiju, Anguirus! Before discovering Godzilla et al. I adored dinosaurs and my all-time fave was Ankylosaurus. No wonder, I took a liking to his irradiated cousin. Anyway, Godzilla kills Anguirus and then gets buried in ice at the end of the movie. Oh well.
Isn't he adorable?
Okay, I'm off to bed, I'm going to Morioka tomorrow to see if I can sell some stuff, so I can afford other stuff!
So today, I watched Ebirah, Horror of the Deep. (Do you like Ebirah? No, I prefer my ebi cooked.) As you may know, Ebi is Japanese for Shrimp, only this prawn has gone Super-Jumbo!
Some evil terrorist group is forcing the inhabitants of a tropical island to make this yellow liquid that keeps Ebirah at bay. No Yellow liquid, then that shrimp skewers you with its pincers and chows down. (Even graphically showing such a scene!) Some escaping robbers (good-natured ones) land on this island and help free the natives with a little help from Godzilla AND Mothra.
Did you see that Battle Royale? All Godzilla needs now is a ton of butter and garlic and he has quite a meal.
I also watched Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla from 2003. A fun little romp where the title speaks for itself. One of the rare occasions when the child in the movie is NOT an annoying brat.
I went through a box full of mini-figures and out of over 120, I only have about 20 doubles. I have a good instinct of "Need it!" vs. "Got it!". So I dug up a couple that have been featured in movies over the last few days.
Gabara (I think.)
Kamakuras
Moguera
Space Godzillas.
I have a busy day tomorrow, work, health check, poker, maybe Marvels! Not sure when I'll have time for another Godzilla movie.
Mandai is the place one goes for all things nerdy, geeky, otaku and just plain nifty stuff--A Mecha-Mecca so to speak. Today's venture nabbed me this model kit for Mecha-Godzilla for 3 bucks. I have several other models in the same series and I'm surprised that I've never spoken of them before; that can wait for another day.
Hmm, it doesn't look that complicated.
Ah, the finished product.
Sweet! A giant poster of MG itself.
The cover of the instruction booklet. Another nice pic.
Speaking of Kaiju, I thought I'd get a couple of Kongs for a friend.
These three cards came in a package with a little Tsum Tsum Iron Man phone cleaner.
I don't remember seeing this particular Jack before. Pretty sure it's from a Choco-egg, but which series??
A few straps for presents for my Canuck friends.
A Chewie magnet!
These two Tsum Tsum Boba Fetts were a third of the price.
Yay! All of the above for ten bucks, not a bad haul! (Note: the amount spent does not include the 1000 yen I spent trying to no avail to win a Black Panther figure at UFO Catcher.) I did though win this Antman for less than that.
Happy Cat Day! 2/22 (nya nya-nya is mewing in Japanese and nya is slang for 2.)
