On October 10th, 1999, I first set foot in Tokyo Japan. Since then, I've gone from working at NOVA in Tokyo (boo) to Tokiwagi High School in Sendai (Yay) to Maki Juku in Soma (boo) to Seiwa High School back in Sendai (Yay) to Berlitz & Primary in Sendai (Double-Boo) to Carl Eikaiwa School in Shiogama/Watari (Yay) to Stageline School in Sendai (Boo) to Interac (Boo) in Rifu Elementary Schools (Yay) to Watari Elementary Schools around 7+ years ago (Yay) and I've been there ever since. I've lived in the same apartment since Seiwa 17 years now and just commuted to where ever I've taught since then. I've made many friends (and a few enemies), had many encounters with ladies, lasting between one date and 2 years, and have been generally content being single, footloose and fancy-free. My health had its ups and downs, from constant asthma and seasonal allergies, to two near-broken arms due to bicycle mishaps, a gall bladder removed and recently some heart problems. So that sums up my life in Japan over the last 23 years rather succinctly.
Here's to the next 23!
I needed to get out of the house and do something so I drove to Nagamachi Mall to watch a movie. It was The Contractor with Chris Pine and say it was boring would be an understatement but it was the only movie in English playing today. These two Japanese movies are on my agenda over the next few weeks.
Next to the Toys R Us is a pop-up store that used be a play area for Shawn the Sheep. The local supermarket is giving out some Shawn colouring pages and feel free to print them off and colour them yourself.
These days, Shaun is gone and last time I was there, there were pictures and Standees of an anime/manga called Overlord IV.
Now is something called KonoSuba, a "portal fantasy where people are transported to another world"
The Disney Store didn't have much to offer, though I was tempted by these Cup Noodles.
I then tried my hand at UFO Catcher and after MANY tries won the last Godzilla. The Mothra didn't take nearly as long for it was much lighter.
I ended the day with an ice cream from 31 (Baskin Robbins) and had a scoop of Pumpkin Pudding and Butterscotch Pudding. (Which almost put me over my caloric intake for the day.)
All in all, a pretty good trip to the mall and I've just been lazy for the rest of the evening, not even watching a horror. Therefore, you'll have to go elsewhere for a spooky fix, so try Your Best Halloween ever and click around or try some new recipes at Spooky Little Halloween!
Tomorrow, I hope to go see Spider-Man the expanded fun edition. Hopefully there'll be some Zombie Dr. Strange goods.
ps. Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians!!
