Merry Birthday!

This was the first Christmas that I had off in decades. Santa duties dry up on the weekdays and especially Mondays so I had nothing to do all day. Oh right, I did spend all afternoon at the Pension office to see whether I qualify. I do, but the news isn't great, I have a few more hoops to jump through and since Canada Pension is mostly in slumber mode until next year, it'll be a while before I get any definitive answer. So I'll continue doing what I've been doing which isn't as much as I wish I were doing.

I received a care package from my fellow Santa on Saturday and took the time to peruse it today. Most of it is stuff he asked if I'd like him to purchase it for me, though there are a few surprises. (Also I had forgotten about the stuff so, even then it was unexpected.) First up, a Justice League BluRay.

Although I already own this movie, he noted that it was only 220 yen, so would I be interested. I was and am glad he bought it. FIVE BluRay Discs(!), including 3D if I ever get such a player. 

I only noticed three discs when I opened it, there are two more hidden as inserts.

Compare this to the disc I already own.

I just noticed something. NO JAPANESE! No wonder it was so cheap! This is a disc probably from Canada, for it has English and French only.

So why was the 5-disc set sold so cheaply? Someone bought the mega set that included a figure and kept it (or sold it at a profit) and then just trashed the discs.

It was going for 35000 yen, which is a substantial mark-up!

I also scored a Movie Monsters Servum, from one of the Godzilla Anime I think?

And a couple of イラストボード, Illustrated Boards.

And a Pencil case.

Not a bad haul at all.

A low-key Birthday indeed. 

Still, I also watched several Christmas specials that I'd never seen before. About the only one I liked was the BC one.

I won't bother reviewing them, suffice to say, they won't be getting a rewatch anytime soon.

I'll end the day with the true meaning of Christmas. Kaiju!

HoHoHoed!

I was so exhausted from yesterday's Santafication at the Hotel that I went straight to bed. Early wake-up, long hours and a head cold will do that to ya. Today, just as exhausted, though I did manage to snap a few pics from in and around the Royal Park Hotel.

Last duty of the night was a pic with the kitchen staff who served my gift recipients. They were overjoyed to receive a KitKat.

One of the dad's recognized me from earlier, so I couldn't walk around maskless lest the kiddies discover my secret identity. I took it off for a quick sELFie. 

I arrived home a little earlier and opted to have a Christmassy meal before zzzzs. 

Ah, 7-11, you came through yet again.

Santa also helped me out with a little message for my grand-nephew. This should take you there.

I'm going to watch the first episode of What If and then go to bed. Meanwhile, here are some various memes that I've acquired over the last few days.

Decking My Halls.

When I Santaed (is that a verb?) on Wednesday, the kids and staff gave me a lovely parting present, a nasty head cold. Just a whole lot of snot, thank you very much. Last night, I didn't feel like blogging so I just watched this movie and went to bed.

Not a bad little flick, one can see where Bob Clark scammed some ideas for his Black Christmas two years later. I've seen that version a few times, mainly for Margot Kidder and the UofT setting. Maybe it's time for me to watch the sequel.

Hey cool, Andrea Martin is back!

Today, I had a lesson with some adults out in Tagajo and en route home, I dropped into the Mandai there and picked up an ornament and caught a present to put under the tree.

Silver Chewie will be given to my agent/manager/handler for Christmas when I see him at Royal Park Hotel tomorrow as their main Santa.

I watched the guy put this brand-new Superior Spider-Man in the UFO Catcher bin and figured out how to win it. I scored it in 5 tries!

Speaking of ornaments, I have two others from this series, BP and Grogu. I haven't seen an Iron Man for sale yet.

 

Black Panther is very well camouflaged in the tree, while Grogu perches nicely in my Halloween Tree. 

This display is permanently in place throughout the year, I think Jack needs some dusting.

I'm all huddled up in a blanket and my Gremlin socks and think I'll retire early. I have a full day of HoHoHoing tomorrow.
