Happy Lupercalia!

I didn't get a chance to disembowel a dog or a goat today for Lupercalia, so I guess I'll just share some Gojira Valentine's chockies and cards that I scammed off the net.

There is always next to NO chocolates for Godzilla fans, lots for dinosaurs and Ultraman and One Piece and Dragonball and Gundam, yet nada for Godzilla. Although I did manage to find some very early on in the chocolate season at Aeon Supermarket. They were sold out shortly thereafter.

I gave one of these to each of my graduating students, and saved the remaining ones for myself.

I gave one of each of these to my Wedding singers and staff yesterday. (The leftovers were also yummy.)

Disappointingly, the chocolates themselves weren't stamped with any Kaiju upon them nor did you even get a sticker. Ah well.

Tomorrow, I plan to give one of these to each of my 1st year students. I think they're gumballs.

At least I get to keep the container.

This is the only Godzilla item I own that is Valentine-based, it's from a calendar from 1988.

These cards are all scammed from the internet. They look great, though the captions are lame. (Yet, isn't that the point?)

So Happy Valentine's Day/ Lupercalia/ Galileo's Birthday/ Ides of February! Whatever you wish to celebrate...

Bonus: Universal Monsters Valentines!

Deck the Halls!

I'll get this out of the way. Merry Christmas those that celebrate and Happy Holidays to everyone else. Now, it's all about ME!

The above pic is from a calendar I own. The following were scammed from someone, sorry I can't make out who.

My buddy Hinnie, who makes frequent trips to Japan from Hong Kong, sent me a birthday care package of items that she picked up at a HK 7-11. First up, a deck of cards. And not just any deck, they're sparkly.

The Jokers:

The Clubs:

The Diamonds:

 The Spades:

And the Hearts:

I think I like the diamonds best. (Who doesn't?)

She also gave me a huge Tote bag (450X400) of Godzilla in battle with King Ghiddorah!

And the pièce de résistance, is this plate. I was going to have my Christmas dinner upon it, but it looks so great, I may keep it pristine for a while longer.

Hmm, it is microwaveable, I may use it tomorrow for leftovers.

Speaking of Christmas dinner, I had a supermarket bought leg and some veggies. Not very elaborate, but tasty enough.

Other than that, the only other prezzies I received was from my fellow Santa. A barely visible girl...

 and a Graphic Novel.

A little Christmas/birthday mirth.

In case any of you are wondering what age I have just reached, here's a hint. (link to a South Park short, not spam.)

I might as well show off some of the Christmas pics I've taken over the last few days at Royal Park Hotel.

The aforementioned Kris Kringle who gave me the X-Men and FF goods. Does this look like an AI photo gone horribly wrong?

Schmoozing with some of the staff.

Hey, speaking of Hotel staff, a former student of mine from my Tokiwagi days was tickling the ivories in the lounge, and I managed to show up in time to hear her play an encore.

This is me sipping a tea listening to her.

 Earl Grey, Hot!
An incredibly boring but pleasant birthday for me. If I get ambitious, I'll post some pics of earlier Santa endeavours going back as far as NOVEMBER FOURTH!

Merry Christmas everyone, and Deck the Halls!

Send More Paramedics!

I handed my First Year gals (and a guy), a bunch of decorations to brighten up the drab walls of their room. I'm disappointed that some have gone missing over the years.

That zombie hanging from the overhead screen cord used to wiggle and shake.

I saved half of my decos for the Second Year gals.

They even put up this sheet that I have, for photo ops only. It was deemed too naughty in case some big wigs show up.

In the end, they all received some jelly beans for their efforts.

After class, I went to my local Aeon Mall because I've had a book on order there for several weeks and today was its due date.

It was 720 yen before tax, so I don't think I'll buy future volumes.

I popped into Don Quixote and scammed a photo of my monkeying around.

We interrupt this blog for a startling revelation on my part:

When I got home, this was on my Twitch channel. I've seen TRotLD many times, but this documentary is a first for me.

So then I planned to link to a previous post where I'd spoken of The Return of the Living Dead yet there are none to be found!! I know I have pamphlets for both Return and Return 2 (s o m e w h e r e!)

Therefore, I broke out my VHS just to show a pic or two. (By the way, the Japanese title for The Return of the Living Dead is バタリアン (Batalian) for some reason.)

Hey, there's even a cool card inside promoting a couple of other movies.

Anyway, back to my blog, now in progress.

Today's Oni is a switch on the Ichabod Crane tale, this time it is the horse that is headless!

Yagyou-san is a one-eyed ogre you will kill you when you cross paths with him, though there is one safety measure you can take.

Yet another reason why Japanese people always carry a handkerchief with them.

And for no reason other than a friend had shared it, so therefore shall I.

It's nice to see #5 hangs around with the big guns.

Over at 2 Cool Ghouls, one can find many Halloween tunes and the one at the top of the page is a KISS tune. (Still reeling over Ace.)

Speaking of tunes, it's my buddy Alex's birthday and he's just released an original tune with some funky visuals to go along with it. Enjoy!

Way to go DJ Mokgohan!

Here's an old pic of the two of us. He's the taller one.

See ya tomorrow...
