Spiders Man!

I did indeed go out for some fresh air today and traipsed around the suburbs of Matsushima house hunting for a friend. He found a few possibilities and befriended an amateur realtor lady. In the course of that trek, I came across a few spiders in the rough.

 

The little dude is her husband looking for love and avoiding being cannibalized.

A bit of shopping and my day was spent! Didn't buy any but found a few new Gatcha.

 

 My friend bought one of these. Inside is a mini VHS tape. (It doesn't work!)

I dined at Burger King and scored a little key-chain. I dunno what it is, but it's free!

 

Aha. It's from a manga called Kagurabachi!

Unfortunately neither McDonald's nor BK have any special Halloween meal this year. Unlike the USA!

 

Here's a cute little Oni. Just don't wear the mask.

 

If you try to remove the mask, the skin comes off with it. Much like a plot-line in Onibaba which I wrote about here.

I have an early morning with an adult class and I get to talk all about Halloween tomorrow. I do hope they contribute some tales. 

Pining for Matsushima.

For the first time, I had a wedding in Matsushima so I took advantage of the lovely weather and wandered around. Here is the view of the islands from the hotel.

I parked alongside the very same beach that I helped tidy last year.

I decided to cross the little red bridge and explore one of the islands, named Oshima.

These handmade caves would fit right in on an episode of the Flintstones.

I met a polar bear along the way.

I was feeling peckish and on the way to Zuiganji Temple, I heard some soft jazz so I dropped into Oyster Bay for a snack.

A Zunda shake. Normally I'm not a fan of the mushy bean paste known as zunda. This was much tastier than I expected.

The closest thing to Cherry Blossoms I've seen all season. Most of the trees are bereft of blossoms.

Best caves ever. They date back to the 1100s!

After all that nature, I needed a nerd-fix so I popped into Mandai in Tagajo. I scored a sweet Supergirl for only 800 yen!
