Gorgon But Not Forgotten.

Happy Day of the Dead everyone! (Is it okay to use Happy in this regard?)

Remember Me? This photo is from four years ago.

When I looked up Day of the Dead, there was a link to page in Sendai. Sure enough, there's a tattoo parlor/clothing shop named Day of the Dead.

I don't know much about Heidi Klum except that she is a master of dressing up for Halloween. Hopefully this link will take you to a quick presentation of her as Medusa. A longer video here will take you to the makeup process.

Get stoned with your favourite Gorgon, Medusa!

Other tidbits that I've seen while scrolling today, includes a Jack o' Labubu.

This popcorn bucket would be appropriate for Halloween, Day of the Dead or while watching Frankenstein.

I didn't have a chance to check it out today (too lazy) yet there was a DragonQuest Walk in downtown Sendai today. A photo op with a really good Great-Sabre Tiger would have been nice.

Tomorrow is Culture Day in Japan and it happens to coincide with their ambassador, Godzilla, he too has a Godzilla Day. I'll hopefully be posting some Godzilla content for Govember (GodzillaNovember) but first a few leftovers from Halloween.

I must reiterate the sigh uttered across Canada when the Toronto Blue Jays succumbed to the Dodgers. From this...

to this...

From Japan's Tourism Canada:

"An exciting MLB postseason that feels like it's been magic

We've been blown over and over again by the amazing play by the Blue Jays players
And the unity of Canadian people cheering on the Blue Jays, not just in their hometown Toronto, but Canada-wide. Our pride🇨🇦
Congratulations to the Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Roki Sasaki on winning the championship.
I applaud you all. Thank you for dreaming and inspiring!"

Ya know how I'm always complaining about how the Christmas season encroaches on Halloween. It shouldn't be promoted until after Black Friday. I'm about to contribute to the problem for tomorrow I have my first Santa gig of the year and need to drive to a mall in Yamagata! Details after it's done...

Samhain Anyone?

After lazing around for most of the day, I finally decided to motivate myself to prepare for that night's party. Then I remembered I had a medical checkup and chucked all the preps and got probed instead (Clean bill of health. Whew, now I can drink guilt-free.) And it started raining so hard that I had to walk to my festivities in a downpour. Ah well. Party one was at a friend's school and much to my disappointment barely a half dozen people even bothered to wear a costume. I even had to lend out a couple of my spare masks.

I snapped a few pics of the few other costumed attendees.

This guy was great!

That was it. I left the shindig and head over to my own shindig. I saw this outside a Pachinko on the way.

The party started slow, but improved as the night went on. It's a very tiny venue and at one point about 15 people were milling about. (Capacity is maybe 12?). Alex's shout out on Redditt received many responses and about 40 people replied, saying they were deterred due to the rain. (TODAY of course is a lovely day!) We also had an International mix, a German guy, a Belgian (?) and a French gal were the first to arrive and they departed once it started getting crowded. (Like the Reddittors were told to do, so we'd be able to have a steady supply of people without crashing through the floor en masse.) Later, We had a Dane, an Irishman and a Swede(?) plus a mix of Americans and Japanese and the two Canadians, Alex and myself.

A former student of Alex's and her beau.

Fortunately, three people from the previous showed up to make it interesting.

And a couple of poker buddies rounded off the crowd.

Because I was in such a rush after my hospital checkup, I just hurriedly grabbed my Dino costume.

I provided some presents to the best costumers who were crowned at Midnight with Ghostbusters playing in the background.

An Alien for the dude who handmade his own leather gimp mask.

And a Gizmo for the only gal still in the bar. (Her odds were pretty good of winning, only three gals showed up all night.)

Alex, was gussied up in a shirt so Halloweeny it lit up the room (or maybe it was the lighting effects).

And two of my favourite records.

I scammed a few photos that the bar owner/tender took that show off the decorations.

All in all, it was a fun night and the bartender said that maybe he'd like a Christmas party now. Due to the rain, I didn't get a chance to snap photos of passersby. Ah well.

Speaking of Gizmo, one or two new Gatcha out there. These have a fuzzy feel to them.

I saved my favourite Oni for last, Namahage. I've been to its hometown as seen here, Namahage, or just click on the label.

I forgot all about showing my comics, so I think I'll save them for later. For other Halloween treats, be sure to go to the Countdown page and snoop around for more spooky blogs.

See ya next year!

I'll probably take a day off and then on November 3rd, I'll start frequent Godzilla posts for Govember 2025!

Macaroons anyone?

About 3/4 way finished decorating the venue for tomorrow night's party, but I forgot to take any photos. Snapped these at the last second.

Lame...

But DJ Mokgohan has his decks all set up and raring to go. Sounds good 'n spooky!

Anyway, tomorrow should be a blast, whether we get a dozen or a hundred, it should be a howling good time. (And as we were leaving, two young girls called out my name. They were students of mine in Elementary School in Watari. Surely they can't be of drinking age now, can they? If I taught them in Grade 6, they'd be age 11-12 then. I left the school 3 years ago. I was at the school for 7 years. Depending on when they graduated, the math adds up. I hope!)

Really impressed by these 4/6 ViruSweets that I scored at Gatcha. I really want the blue one though! This set all seems to be flavours of InfecTea. Click around on this link to their website. There's a Comic Strip, a list of characters, and more.

There's even a YouTube about an earlier set of different varieties of pudding.

Oh, found another video!

These are the ones I got.

 Scone & Lemon Tea

Macaron Framboise (Strawberry Macaroon?) & Macaron Pisutachio (Pistachio Macaroon?)

Delicious!

I saw a movie today in which the lead may have consumed some of the above. But he's invulnerable, so that's okay.

Warning to those who go see the movie in Japan, there is some foreign dialects that are only subtitled in Japanese, not English. I had no problem with the French, but had great difficulty with the Danish. (Hey! Danish! That goes along with the Tea and Macaroons.)

All the leads were delightful, I can't choose a favourite. A tad slow at times, but well worth the 2 1/2 hour sit. NO spoilers, but if you've read the book, then you've seen the movie. It is only under a limited release but will be released on Netflix next week. I urge you to see it in the Theatre. It'll be worth it. Shout out to Bernie in the end credits and a Thanks to Michele Wrightson. Other thank yous as well, but they went by very quickly and he used first names only.

I also noticed that Guy Davis was used as a Conceptual Artist. Check out his portfolio.

I need a big hulking Oni today. I guess this will do. Get your daily exorcise!

I grabbed a quick pumpkin flavoured pudding cake tonight. Hopefully it's not laden with a virus.

There's no candy to be found at Chocolate Halloween Candy but there are other tasty Tumblr tidbits there.

I have TWO parties tomorrow night, so hopefully I can wish everyone a Happy Halloween before I leave for them. I doubt whether I'll be in any condition to write about them immediately afterwards.
