I found myself with some free time so I watched this movie by director Kaneto Shindo today, called Onibaba.
You can watch a trailer at that link, or just watch this:
It's slow (no sign of the Oni in question for an hour) yet spooky, great acting by the three leads (not really for the kiddies for there are some BOObies), some gaslighting yet atmospheric, and an awesome score mixing jazz with Taiko drums. Check this out to score the score.
I need to get my hands on that mask. But it comes with a CURSE!
It just so happens that a even more demonic version shows up in my Oni book. She needs to feast on some chubbier victims.
Here's what I had for breakfast today, one of each of these.
You know, Michael, just because they put Happy Halloween on the packaging doesn't mean you have to buy it!
What a load of #$%&%$.
I'm working on a catch-up post so I'll just leave you with a fellow Countdown Blogger, Vraiefiction. Hopefully I'll be back soon.
Not the first time I've spoken of Onibaba, different versions can be found in the LABEL for this very post.
