Today, I'm going to start with my Gatcha Capsule catch at the beginning (a Turtle) and go all the way down from there.
These world turtles are pretty neat.
*not THE world turtle!
These turtles (tortoises) carry World Wonders upon their shell. Such as this one carrying 3 Moai statues upon its back.
This one carries Pyramids and a Sphinx.
There are a few more, but I haven't acquired them yet.
Today's Yokai is from Lake Inawashiro in Fukushima. I've been there a few times, often enough that you'll find a label off to the side to click and investigate. 亀姫 (かめひめ) or Kame Hime (Turtle Princess.) The name Kame hime comes from Inawashiro Castle’s nickname: Kame shiro (“Turtle Castle”).
I like this picture.
Kame hime is said to be the younger sister of Osakabe hime, the spirit who haunts Himeji Castle. In the play Tenshu monogatari, Kame hime is depicted visiting her older sister at Himeji Castle and bringing a severed man’s head as a souvenir. Not really a Turtle, more of a young dinosaur, Gachapin was my garb of choice for today's Volleyball game.
I have a towel around my wrist for I bruised my palm. Those volleyball balls are a lot harder than when I played back in University 40 years ago!
I'm getting lazy again. My Junji Ito tale is just a photo of a boy with a red Turtleneck scammed from the internet. When I have time (THIS weekend) I'll delve into Tomie.
Speaking of Gamera, I recently caught these at UFO Catcher.
And as promised, it was Turtles all the way down!

I need an Egyptian Turtle in my collection of random Egyptian things...it has been decided!
I'll keep an eye out for another one.
