Okay, it's not the best pun to use for an R2-D2 Laundry hamper, but it'll have to do. I was drowsy on my drive home today so I stopped into Mandai to get my second wind. When I saw this I knew I had to acquire it. It took me many (many, many) tries to win but I did eventually land it.
Speaking of R2 units, a recent Gatcha-Capsule gadget are these Pullback Droids. I have two but I'm not overly impressed with them so I shan't get any more.
I shall be utilizing these Droid magnets in a board game next week.
Or maybe this Hologram R2-D2.
Or perhaps these two holograms.
How about one of these?
Boba Fett is cool but that Emperor will freak the kiddies out.
I'm fairly certain Yoda will be chosen, but probably not Greedo.
I've shown this before, but now seems to be a good time to show my BB-8 floor mat.
I landed these two Trooper-Pops last week for only 3 bucks a pop!
And finally, I found this guy for a mere 2$ as opposed to the 3$ it usually costs. Sweet!
I was flipping channels on a boring evening of TV when I came across a movie called Parasyte that I'd seen 1 1/2 years ago. (Click the link for my review back then.)
It just so happens that I found some more goods from the Parasyte Anime that I haven't gotten around to writing about. 5 out of 6 plunger heads. My bathroom mirror is going to be covered with these guys.
And some postcard sized pages from the manga. Feel free to fill in the word balloons with your own dialogue.
Finally a couple of earphone plugs that I have hanging from my PC.
Those eggcellent folks at Furuta have come up with Series 7 of Disney Choco-eggs and this time they're capitalizing on the success of Zootopia. Much to my surprise, they are only featuring ニック ワイルド (Nick Wild) from that movie. I suppose they'll introduce other characters in future series.
This is what the box looks like if you want to keep an eye out for it. 2 years ago, these were only 150 yen but the price has now jumped to 180 yen before tax. The price of chocolate has gone up, I guess.
(If you want a look at a previous series, take a look at this. WARNING, the gal's voice is extremely annoying!)
The first egg I bought was Minnie above. I was fortunate enough to get two of them with the first two eggs purchased. Did that sour me to continue shopping? I think you know the answer to that.
Next, I landed a Sleeping Beauty variant. The one in the index has Princess Aurora with her eyes closed. This version must be just after her snog from Prince Phillip.
Today I landed the secret! Woohoo! It's Oswald. I wish it were actually molded in Black and White, but this version looks pretty cool.
Looking over the lineup here, I could survive without getting any others, although it would be nice to get a Mickey to match Minnie. And Hughie, Dewey and Louie! I can't forgo that. I could probably do without Rapunzel, yet then it would give Aurora someone to hang around with. Oooh, Alladin's Genie! I simply must get that as a tribute to Robin Williams. I always liked Captain Hook and can Tinkerbell be far behind? Those Tsum Tsums are pretty nice too. Cruella, Alice and the Cheshire Cat (just in time for the new movie) and of course Olaf!
Okay, maybe I will buy a few more eggs...
I happened to feature a few Disney characters as special guests in my lesson today. I had all the kids come up in pairs to practice the old "How are you? I'm Hungry. And you? I'm sleepy" routine. I usually only get a handful of volunteers but when you throw in some hand-puppets, everyone wanted a crack at it.
I wish I had a hand-puppet of Godzilla, instead kids had to just grasp him by the tail.
Hey cool, Godzilla is cosplaying Buzz!
I'll update this with future egg contents when appropriate.
The Deadpool, that is. Though I saw it in Canada when it first opened, I've waited until its Japanese release to comment upon it. It's a very fun, violent, funny, violent, sexy, violent, exciting, violent movie. Did I mention that there was a little violence in it? As a result, it is rated R+15 here in Japan, which I assume those under 15 are Restricted. That's a tad more restricting than in North America and over here it's probably due to the naughty bits shown during the gratuitous cameo scene. Because it was just released today, I will avoid spoilers for my Nihon-brethren. If you don't mind a lot of violins, violence and some sporadic nudity and lots of nsfw dialogue, I recommend you go see it.
Biggest disappointment? The extreme lack of goods available. NO CLEAR FILES! This is unheard of! A couple of note pads and a few key chain accessories but that's it!!
I picked up a sticker for my new iPhone and a towel, but otherwise slim pickings.
This is the flyer that one can pick up at the cinema. The coy pose of Deadpool slays me.
Scamming from the Deadpool Facebook page, here are several photos and videos leading up to its premiere here.
Advanced tickets anyone?
Now 18? Now you can vote. (Note to Ryan, you don't have to be 18 here in Japan. 15 is the cutoff age.)
A spoiler-heavy almost three minute trailer. (ps. The two X-men featured above were excellent.)
For the ladies. (By the way Ryan, June 1st is not just Lady's Day, it's a cheap day for everyone.)
What I like about some of the promos are them playing up the romantic angle.
I'm sad that this item wasn't available locally, only 60,000 available at a cinema in Tokyo. Dang.
Deadpool rappers.
I'd like to check out this cafe.
I hope this truck comes to Sendai!
Awesome randomness.
Bedtime for me. I'll try and dig up a few more goodies at other cinemas. I hope I'm successful.
ps. I have a challenge to all those who see a subtitled version of the movie. (Slight spoiler alert.) When Francis is asking Deadpool about his name, Wade makes several suggestions. What is the Katakana subtitled name used when he guesses Basil Fawlty?
