Just a quick reminder to everyone out there that the sequel to Attack on Titan (live version) opens this weekend. (I wonder if they could convince Celine Dion to do a song for them?)

The last movie had a few tunes by Sekai no Owari.

One of the group has a clown fetish. I had one of these clowns but I gave it away to a worthy cause.

King Kun!

Today's story is a short one. The gang appears to encounter a Dinosaur named Sonbirus, get frightened by it and then befriend it. Cool looking monster, though he looks vaguely familiar.

I have a treat* for you today. I found a copy of the soundtrack the other day yet it only contains the theme song and an instrumental version of it. Fortunately it was only 3 bucks.
*Note: may not actually be a treat.

Come to think of it, this kid does a far better version of the tune!



Today's snack says that it is Fruits Candy but it is in fact deodourizing spray for your toilet with the scent of Fruit Candy!

Tomorrow will be a little more substantial. I'm going to bed...

Cinemagic.

At the cinema, there was a giant poster for Green Lantern which premieres next month but I forgot my camera. The pix I took with my phone were less than terrific. It has not done quite as well as Warners would like, even the comic geeks are unenthralled. Me, I think it looks pretty cool, though I suspect even I'll be disappointed. (It takes a lot for me to dislike a Comic-movie...I liked Ghost Rider and some of Daredevil.)

There was a giant 3D cardboard cut out of Transformers but I didn't bother with snapping a photo of it. This pretty sums up what I think of that movie:

But there was a wall size poster of コクリコ坂から (Kokuriko Zaka Kara) and that movie is the next on my list.

The soundtrack is also up for grabs, alas, I'm not sure which of the following if any are featured upon it...

Regardless, it opens next weekend and I hope to see it.

On Borrowed Time

Did I mention that I finally saw Arietty? It was brilliant. The animation was superb, you really get caught up in the world of the Borrowers. Watch this clip and tell me if you feel the same way.



Pretty good, eh? (But I didn't like the kid much.) I highly recommend you watch it when it comes overseas. I saw it in Japanese and could easily follow the storyline thanks to the vibrant animation. I'm sure they'll cast it with a big-name American cast and dub it but I fervently hope that they don't change the music.

Ozu In Space.

Hey, it's my 900th post, so here's a treat for you. I'd spoken in the past about the anime/manga version of Dorothy and the gang, but did you know they did a Josie & the Pussycats gig and blasted off to Outer Space? (Hmmm. This post just got hijacked...that Josie link drew me to Cartoon Network Japan with a whole bunch of classic Hanna Barbera toons that have been manga-tized. I'll have to get back to this page another time.)

Okay, back to earth. From 1992/10/05～1993/04/04, there was another anime based on L. Frank Baum's cast of characters. This one was called
スペースオズの冒険 or Supe-su Ozu no Boukan = The Wonderful Galaxy of Oz. The plot is similar to the original storyline, but the characters have been transposed into space. There were 26 episodes in Japan and those were squished down into a 76-minute dubbed version for an American video release. I have never seen that version and am now on the prowl for the Japanese version.

Here is the cast, which seems to be made up of several J-pop stars of the early 90s and a few Dramatic actors. (I've translated and linked the first two; for the rest, you're on your own.)

The Opening Theme is "To a Dream Adventure (夢の冒険へ)" and the Ending Theme is "Hikari no tabibito" by Yukari Morikawa. (An American version?? I'm not sure.) The Japanese soundtrack was the 9th album of a group called S.E.N.S. It shouldn't be too hard to track down.

The DVD/Video is proving to be a little more difficult to find, but in the interim, I present you with the opening theme...
