Odds 'n Ends.

I have spent the entire day tidying and catching up on tv shows. I also went through a box of Clear Files hoping to find some I haven't used before. I don't think I've shown this Devilman one before...

He fought Cyborg 009 gang in a cool crossover anime a while back.

Here's a pair of vampiric socks. Fangs at the top and bat-stripes.

Some spooky Halloween KitKats. Even spookier is the flavour...Sweet Potato!

I don't need anymore Gatcha capsules. Yet I am sorely tempted by these.

Brains...

That reminds me, I still need to watch NOPE.

To finish off my hodgepodge entry, here is some Belgian Chocolate. Yummy but I could only eat it since I had had a low calorie day.

Now I need to catch up on other tv shows. Such as Chucky and Werewolf By Night! Reviews to follow...

Speaking of hodgepodge, another blogger with randomness prevails over at and everything else too

Devilish Fun.

On Thursday (cheap movie day), I had the opportunity to watch a crossover between Go Nagai's characters,  Cyborg 009 vs. Devilman.

For those too lazy to click that site, here is the trailer from their webpage.

I suspect that this will be shown on TV at a later date in 3 episodes for the movie was split into three segments each with identical opening and closing credits. There were far too many villains running around and it made it rather confusing at times although the fight scenes were excellent. Some very cool monsters (a manticore, a succubus, etc.), great animation, a good score are some of the highlights.

I picked up a couple of Clear Files (of course), I like the adorable little Devilman and 009. What cuties!

Here are some clips from the movie:

And a few more trailer goodies...

Unfortunately this was on a limited release so I don't know when you'll get a chance to see it. Seek it out though, it's worth it.

The Devil You Say.

I think I've stepped across a line into true Nerdidom. I popped into the Natori Mandai and lo and behold, a Star Trek Barbie And Ken 30th Anniversary Giftset. Today's entry will have a Satanic theme to it so I'd like to say that these two were in the episode "Devil in the Dark" featuring the Horta. I'm certain that the red-shirted female is not long for this world.

Amongst several other items (to be featured from time to time), also found a Bearbrick Daredevil!

As Devil's Night approaches, continuing the International Yokai feature showcases this guy, who looks like Gollum in a well, has no real name and the category is "Secrets of the Yokai."

Now that the preliminary categories are done, we can get to the nitty gritty of the Yokai. First up are the Yokai from Asia. I have no idea who this Dragon in Drag is but she's kind of cute.

Part one of Chapter 2 is about the Characteristics of Yokai and Asian ones range from China to India, the Orient to the Middle East. They share some similarities but also vary greatly. (At least that's what I could translate of the text.)

This is Beruzebubu, the Israeli King of the Flies. He spreads disease like the plague but is well-respected among his fellow Yokai and is often represented as Satan. You may know him better as Beelzebub. Love the Skull tattoos on his wings!

His pal is Asmodeus, a demon king from Iraq whose heads always bicker with each other.

They both are characters that show up in this issue of Captain Marvel Jr. For more Satanic action, be sure to check out Bully's Devilish covers. His blog features a Hanna Barbaric comic daily as well as other spooky items. Highly recommended...

Let's Go Nagai, Let's Go!

The fine folks at Mitsuya All Zero Cider teamed up with PansonWorks again to bring us a sextet of 永井 豪, Gō Nagai characters.

The first two are デビルマン/Devilman, I'm afraid that I'm not well-versed in the mythos so I don't know why there are two different ones. I did like the movie though!

My favourite of the batch has to be キューティーハニー/Cutie Honey of course. I liked this movie too.

I am unfamiliar with the witch, えん魔くん Enma-Kun but based on the anime, she looks pretty cool! (Take that, Wendy, the Good Little Witch.)

I suppose this one could be deemed a real Go Getter. ゲッターロボ or Getter-Robo and apparently it's a Giant-Robot vs Mecha-Dinosaurs thing!

Finally is Mazinger Z, one of the original Giant Robots!

Hop To It!

Now that the Boris Blogathon is over, I can get back to less important crap, such as today's lunchhour in downtown Sendai which brought many more goodies into the Jones' household. For starters, I gained a new Peter Rabbit プレート・カップ・ボウル set during lunch at KFC. It's a rather nice plate, cup and bowl showing off the lovely artwork of Beatrix Potter.

I went to book a visit to the dentist which just happens to be right next to my Capsule salesman. There wasn't much to waste my coinage on, but he did have a set of デフォルメ (deformed) Devilman and friends from the GO NAGAI Collection...irresistible!

The latest Frankensteinia Blogathon has brought more traffic to this humble site including 2 more followers. One of those followers was the host of that very Borisathon, I urge you to head there (after reading my blog of course.) I also gained a professional Art Director type-guy named Karswell who hosts a blog called, THE HORRORS OF IT ALL with a recent run on a comic I'd never read before called Frankenstein. You can read several issues of a very amusing and quaint comic there! Speaking of followers though, I'd surf on over to Black Sun who has a terrific post on the merits of GeGeGe, of whom I coincidentally picked up two old videos at a buck a pop! Now I have the incentive I've needed to get my VCR fixed!

Check out this which looks like it might have been a feature movie. Based on the cover, it looks like it would have been appropriate for last week's posts! I will give you a review of it once I get around to watching it!

Let's see what goodies I shall reap upon my return to downtown when I get my teeth cleaned on Wednesday!

Kewpie Dolls...

I'm convinced that there are a few things that are sending us to Hell in a Handbasket and Kewpie dolls are near the top of the list. I'm not sure where the term キュージョン (kyu-jon) comes from but it has something to do with these Hell-dolls.

There are several examples of where these Kewpies meld with other characters (eg. Devilman) but the worst has to be...

GeGeGe!

On the side of this box, you can acquire GeGeGe himself, Rat-baby, Cat-baby or BaBa-baby. All very creepy!

On the other side of the box, you will see Wall-baby, Old-man-baby or Flying Carpet-baby.

And then there is the mystery character which I was lucky enough to acquire: 目玉のおやじ or Medame-oyaji-baby which is a Kewpie doll with a freaking huge eyeball on its forehead! Awesomely horrible!

All that being said, if it were made available as a Halloween costume, I'd wear it in a minute!

The Devil Made Me Do It.

Couldn't find the rest of my Universal Monsters so you'll have to settle for some デビルマン (Devilman) goodies I have hanging around. Though I did find an awesome Metaluna Monster Model...

Who knew he had such a nice bust!

A couple of Satanic Statues:

I'm not really sure how to describe a cute version of Devilman. It creeps me out more than the above!

This necktie was given to me by my former students back in my Tokiwagi days. It has proudly adorned my throat ever since.

Why not give a listen to the awesome theme song:

UPDATE: I found a couple more: Metal figures...
