Dead Day!

Since I had the day off thanks to Super-Typhoon Lan, I spent it watching a marathon of Season 7 of The Walking Dead, just in time for the Season 8 premiere happening in a few minutes. Therefore, I present to you one of the better NotLD sequels/ spin-offs/ remakes, Dawn of the Dead. I found this to be one of the few remakes that improves upon the original.

Unlike most of these pamphlets, there are very few stills from the movie itself.

This centerfold opens to unleash a few tidbits within the movie.

Much of the pamphlet is devoted to the production. I must say it's one of Zack Snyder's best efforts.

Here's an interesting Chronicle of all the Zombie movies over the years, starting with White Zombie.

Today's UFO catch goodies are these two kids from  こどもつかい (Kodomo Tsukai or Innocent Curse). You read an extensive write up of this movie here. If you scroll to the bottom of that link you can see a lot of these kiddy-straps. I'd never seen them anywhere until I stumbled across them and these were the only two left.

The snack of the day are these two ramen noodle packs, Triple Cheese below.

And Baby-Stars.

I tried doing a Pano-shot of them to try and get the cover. It sort of worked.

...and now The Walking Dead is over. Not a bad Season Premier. Let's hope it keeps up the pace.

Kureepushou!

I was organizing my ton of pamphlets trying to find an appropriate one for tonight when what should star showing on the tube but クリープショー Creepshow!  (Click that link for a ton of photos!) Unfortunately, this will take longer to post since I'm more interested in watching the movie than writing about it.

Last month when George Romero passed away (or did he?), I wrote a quick tribute to him. Click around on the homepageofthedead for more info about the man and his work. I probably saw Creepshow before I saw any of the "Living Dead" movies and I know I have the comic adaptation of it sitting in a locker in Canada. Here's the rest of the pamphlet for you to peruse. (I'm going back to the movie.)

I need to look into this. Shrunken Head Studios has created a few Bits and Pieces from the movie...

 (Back to the pamphlet.)

Check out the center-page, it appears to include another movie, XYZマーダーズ or XYZ Murders better known as Crimewave. Whoa, a Sam Raimi film I've never seen! So as an added bonus to this pamphlet, here is its flipside.

Here's a trailer.

Is it worth tracking down?

I'm trying to think of a good UFO catch or snack to finish this off but it's way past my bedtime so I'll just grab quickies from the archives.

 No idea what these are.

This is a sheet of little pins you can poke into your pancakes. I'd never learned to make pancakes so I passed on purchasing the package of Hotcake Mix that this came with.

Stay tuned for more of the Countdown tomorrow!

Wood of the Dead.

I'm about a week late in paying tribute to Horror-meister, George Romero and to actor extraordinaire, Martin Landau who both passed away (or have they?) on July 15th, 2017. The reason for the delay is because I didn't have any movie pamphlets for George and I couldn't find my Ed Wood pamphlet for Martin. That was rectified yesterday when I stumbled across the pamphlet for Romero's fourth of six Dead movies, Land of the Dead.

Land of the Dead is not a very good movie, but it does have a very good pamphlet.

Like I said before, it's not a great movie, though I thoroughly enjoyed the over-the-top performances of both Dennis Hopper and John Leguizamo (and kudos to myself for spelling his name correctly.) Hopefully, I'll be able to track down some of the other Dead movies as well.

I managed to locate my Ed Wood pamphlet and it, too, is a joy. Lots of cast photos and the majority of them feature Landau as Lugosi.

Without Tim Burton, we wouldn't have a movie, so here we have him relaxing on the set.

And without Ed Wood, we wouldn't have a reason for the movie.

Here are some original posters for a few of his movies.

Here are some of the original Ed Wood troupe.

And now several pics of the Oscar-winning Bela, Mr. Martin Landau!

The rest of the cast is wonderful as well...

Especially Johnny Depp as Ed.

Rest in Peace, George & Martin. Please no rising from the grave, okay!
