Manic Mummy Mondays.

I found a book called ミイラのラムさん (Miira no Ramu-san= Mr. Ramu the Mummy??) which belongs to a series of Obake-books. It's pleasant little story with lots of monstrous members and a happy ending when two mummies mate. There are many illustrations, I'll only highlight the coloured ones...

Today's goodies are some Mickey Mummy Cupcakes that you'll have to follow the recipe and make yourself. It looks like a yummy mummy.

Several of the contributors to the Countdown to Halloween are paying tribute to Vincent Price in the Vincentennial anniversary of his birth. Today, I watched three of his...

The Abominable Dr. Phibes which can be considered the inspiration for the increasingly insipid SAW movies.

Dr. Phibes Rises again which I don't ever recall seeing before and is appropriate for today's post due to its Egyptian setting.

Theatre of Blood which I recall rather vividly from my youth, especially the demise of Robert Morley. I'd say that Vincent's Shakespearean acting is better than any of today's actors.

I'm hoping to find time to watch Witchfinder General and review it for Witchy Wednesday. Tomorrow, I think I'll do some catching up on Nightmare and Gegege stuff.

Ps. Happy Thanksgiving to Canada, Sports Day to Japan and Double 10s Day to Taiwan!!

Let's Crea Things Up.

When I bought my curry cubes I also picked up a package ハッシュドビーフ ドライトマトチップ(hashed beef: tomato chip) which included クレアおばちゃんのミニ料本 (Aunt Crea's mini-Cookbook/Recipe Book). To be honest I thought I was getting a cutesy book of Nursery Rhymes but of course I was wrong. (Hit the link above and you get a box of her Cream Stew at only 4X the price of what I paid for it.)

For hints on how to prepare her Cream Stews, check these out.

Click for more Glico commercials.

Once I cook up my delicious hashed meat with tomato chips, I'll give you a review. (I think I'll give away the little book though.)

Get 'em While They're Hotcakes!

So apparently yesterday was National Pancake Day as sponsored by the International (ie. American) House of Pancakes. I didn't engage in the festivities since I'm waiting until Shrove Tuesday next week to consume my ホットケーキ.

Today I did though pick up a Pepsi NEX with their latest promo, Snoopy/Woodstock nestled within international foodstuffs. The very first one I noticed was Canada's contribution, none other than Woodstock corking up a bottle of Maple Syrup. If I can find the other goodies on sale, I may buy more, but I'm saving my pennies right now so I won't run out and buy them all up like I normally do.

Here's how to make the Japanese version of a pancake, お好み焼き Okonomiyaki. Dig the poodle's accent!

Simple Recipes For Simple Minds.

Today's binder was released a few days ago and it looks appetizing. It includes more dividers than any other binder, plus several シンプル・レシピ (simple recipes) by some very famous chefs. The food must be good because all of the division heads are written in French! I've provided a few recipes and ended with a tribute to the onion.

What gets me though, is that the Dessert section doesn't mention anything about these new KitKats, a succulent White Chocolate Bar and Green Tea Wafers with a dash of Sakurano.
