Happy Geeky Star Wars Towel Day!

I'm a geek (or maybe a nerd, definitely not a dweeb) and proud of it. Today is Geek Pride Day and I have a few geeky items to showcase today. Since it also happens to be Star Wars Day and Towel Day, I'll start with a Star Wars Towel. (Forgive me if I've shown any of these before, I don't plan on searching right now. You can just click Towels in the "Labels" and hunt yourself.)

I'm not sure where I got the above though for some reason I have two of them.
I've had this Darth for well over a decade now.
 Chewie,
 Wicket,
BB8

and Yoda (looking an awful lot like Mel Brooks) are all UFO Catch acquisitions from last X-mas.

This is a more recent swag snag, a BB8 throw rug. I don't really want to use it as a rug because it is too cool to tread upon. Perhaps I'll hang it somewhere.

Here are several Disney towels collected over the last few years. This Sleeping Beauty is new as of Sunday and the Zootopia from a few days before that.

This Monster's Inc. one is huge, about twice size of a regular beach towel (in order to snap a pic of the whole thing, I'd have to stand on a chair.)

I have no idea when or where I got this Pooh.

These Donald towels are from a Disney Lucky Draw from 2 years ago.
Once again, no idea where this hanky came from.

Some miscellaneous items. Starting with this Terminator Genysis silk handkerchief.

An Atom hanky and an Atomu/Ishinomori collaborative hand-towel.
I think I found this at Mandai for a buck. An interesting take on Bubbles.
A soccer towel from Hub's grand opening two years ago.
 Some Dragonball lengthy towel.
I reckon I won this at Conbini Lucky Draw but I couldn't say for sure.
NO idea what this is, or where/when I got this.

The less said about this genital cloth, the better. I do believe I bought it at the Kanamara Matsuri. (VERY NSFW pictures at that link.)

Let's see what I can amass between now and next Towel Day!

Happy Pretz Day!

Formally it is Pocky Day but I prefer the taste of Pretz, so I dub thee Pretz Day!

It has been marketed more fervently than past years with one of the coolest crossovers ever.

I bought several boxes of Pocky & Pretz in order to obtain a PPG clear file. At first I'd only seen two different ones. Then I went to a different Family Mart and found a third. I have 3-4 copies of each of these now and today I saw a fourth one! Dang, how many of these are there?

Powerpuff Girls have teamed up with Pocky and Cartoon Network to produce these awesome clear files.

Family Mart isn't the only conbini with a Pocky/Pretz Present though. I popped into a Ministop and sure 'nuff, they had a give-away as well. Buy two Pocky products and you get this mystery box. Within are one of four Pocky premiums.

I got a little eraser-type thing that is used for cleaning your iPhone.

Happy Pretz or Pocky Day everyone in Japan.
Happy Poppy or Remembrance Day to everyone in Canada (and other Commonwealth countries.)
Happy Veteran's Day to America.

Peace!

Imagine.

I know I'm a day late, but yesterday was bad enough without adding the anniversary of John Lennon's untimely demise. I scammed these three questions from Mark Evanier's blog and thought I'd share my insight with you.

1. How I met John Lennon

2. Where I was thirty years ago today when I heard that John Lennon had been murdered

3. What John Lennon's music meant to my life

1. Erm, I saw Beatlemania at the O'Keefe Centre in the mid-80s. Does that count?

2. In 1980, I was living in a 6-man suite in East Residence at the University of Guelph. Blair, Pat & I were watching TV while consuming beers and possibly engaging in some illicit smoking. John came back from the library in shock and proclaimed, "Did you hear that John Lennon has been shot?" We replied in relative unison and said, "Yeah, we just saw that on Quincy." Sober John was not amused and I think we regretted our flippant answer the next day.

3. The Beatle's make up the majority of my repetoire at Karaoke, especially when I am changing their lyrics to accommodate a patron's name (Let It Be is so easy...it becomes, Manami, Hitomi, Megumi...) I must admit that I do a kickass version of Imagine.

My favourite PowerPuff Girls episode:

Anywho, yesterday was also a birthday for my dead friend Ed (aka Edge) and add that to a 5-hour session of apologising (Don't Ask.) and Dec. 8th was not a great day.

On the other hand, today was great! The threatened rain did not strike and I even got a few nice sunset pics. I got to sing several Christmas Carols, taught the kiddies Rudolph and played Xmas bingo.

Hey, even my pal Ultraman has caught the Christmas spirit!

Top it off with some One Piece Curry for dinner, a Heartcatch Precure bag of chips, a stupid Horror movie (Orphan) and now a Glee rerun and today ended up all right.

Oh yeah, here is a Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla calendar from 2003 for you.
