Render Unto Caesar.

When home in Canada, I consumed as many Bloody Caesars as possible. Apart from the homemade ones that my host Phil made with the Vodka I brought him, I had several around town.

Check out the graffiti in Phil's basement!

Chilling with another Phil, we consumed some Flying Monkeys beer. Very hoppy and very happy!

Also had some nice Indie beers, Cracked Canoe and Barking Squirrel!

I won't bore you with all the food that I consumed yet I must show off this awesome poutine and deep-fried pickles from the Loose Moose:

Finally a lovely romantic message on a poster in the loo.

Hail Caesar!

It's buddy, Suu's bar's Title's 2nd Anniversary today. Few places make it past their 1st anniversary in the Buncho, so this is indeed an auspicious occasion.

To celebrate, I'm contributing the ingredients for a Bloody Caesar, Canada's answer to the Bloody Mary. The primary differences being Clamato Juice rather than Tomato and Celery Salt (which I just happened to bring back from Canada at Christmas.)

Ingredients:
6 oz. Clamato Juice
1½ oz. Vodka
2 Dashes Hot Sauce
2 Dashes Worcestershire Sauce
Celery salt
Freshly Ground Pepper
Lime/Lemon wedge
1 Crisp Celery Stalk

Preparation: Rim glass first with Lime wedge and then with celery salt.

I hope he can find a supplier of Clamato Juice in the future, it's rather inconvenient to lug it in my suitcase!

OH CANADA?!

Got up before 10 to checkout and woke up my sleepy-headed neighbours at Mark-Town. We wandered over to The Maple Leaf, an all-Canadian restaurant. We dined on hamburgers with back bacon, cheese dogs and poutine. I had two Bloody Caesars (like a Bloody Mary but with clamato juice, not tomato juice) but decided to stop, rather than be pissed all day. During lunch, I was emailed an update on the hockey scores (Ottawa won their series!) and went to regale the crowd of the news. NOBODY CARED! It was then that I discovered that I was the only Canuck in the place. Everyone was either American, Australian, Kiwi or Japanese. The manager was an Aussie, the cook was some odd South-Asian creation and the waiter was a Yank. (Actually considering the motley assortment of patrons, it WAS a lot like Canada.) But I should have known that they didn't bleed Maple Syrup, they were watching Boxing/Wrestling in the middle of the NHL playoffs!
