Out With The Gnu Year...
And into the Year of the 寅 (Tora or Tiger, that is)!
(We aren't out of the Woods yet and I'm certain we'll get more stupid jokes to celebrate his 18 holes!) For my Scots fans, Happy Hogmanay!
I'm in the process of tidying my room and as you can see, I still have a lot of work to do to organize my piles of crap, scan them and then blog about them. So a long drawn out post will have to wait until next year.
Here is a scan of McDonald's Pokemon Calendar for January 2010 to keep you sated.
See ya all next year (which is tomorrow...snicker!)

Monster Prince!
No not William, rather 怪獣王子 (Kaiju-Oji) and his famous yell, オーラー (o-raa)! I've never seen this before and just randomly came across the YouTube now but it looks to be right up my alley. I can find little info in English on this, but it looks to be a 1967 series about a kid who fights dinosaurs with his pet Dino and a trusty boomerang. (Sound a bit like Dino Boy anyone?)
This very odd image is done by a fan of the show and does really creepy stuff with big-headed dolls! At almost 800$, I don't think I'll be picking up this box set any time soon!

Stuff Happens!
I think I'm all partied out so it'll take a while before I show off more pictures (besides, I can't top my birthday). In the interim, here are a few goodies that I picked up yesterday at UFO Catcher while waiting for the QED gig, an Anpanman mini-pillow and candy and a pair of Angry & Hangry slippers. They're a little small but they are very cosy.
I also got a pair of Shinkansen chopsticks! Fortunately I don't have any yet. I don't know what I'd do with two pair!
I got a card from one of my senior students that is quite nice.
But the best present ever is a Limited Edition of Star Trek that includes a model of the Enterprise! It may actually hold the discs in it, I haven't checked yet. Tomorrow is a sit on my ass and watch The Future Begin!

Happy Boxing Day!
To my fellow Canadians (and other Commonwealth comrades), I hope you saved a package for those less fortunate than yourselves while fighting the masses for Boxing Day bargains today. To my Irish pals (and for my little brother Stephen), Happy St. Stephen's Day! To my new follower, vishwajeet kumar, I don't know if I know you, but welcome nonetheless! To those who went out partying last night, Happy Hangover!
This is how many beers I had to drink!
Seriously folks, I had a pretty good birthday and an acceptable Christmas. I wasted the day away blogging and then I went to Alex's for dinner, a half a six-pack and watching Clone Wars Blu-Ray while playing with his attention-seeking-adorable-recently-turned-four-year-old daughter. I received the very heavy Star Wars Vault as a present! (Subsequently, I got to drag an old joke from my vault: A guy at the Olympics is walking along carrying a long rod. Someone asks him, "Are you a pole vaulter?" "No, I'm Swedish, but how did you know my name was Walter?")
Before I tell you about the rest of the evening, just a reminder to check out Akari's event, Q.E.D. Sunday night at Darwin. I'll be MCing the fashion show! Click to embiggen!
Okay, back to our little foray into debauchery: First, I went to Shaft for a Christmas/Birthday party--Highlights: Dave actually bought me a beer; The woman wearing the Santa gear spun the best set I've heard at Echo in ages; They gave me a cake; An incredibly intoxicated cutie got smoochie with me, but I decided to let her Caulk-Block friends do their job and rescue her.
Then on to Droom for a Reggae-Christmas--Highlights: I met a young lass with the same birthday as mine (though half my age); Great music; Someone bought me a tequila shot!
Then on to Liga for some Karaoke with the gang--Highlights: I've now added Silent Night & Rudolph to my repertoire of songs I can sing in Japanese; I questioned gal-pal Mai for a definitive "just-friends" standing; I got comped for my 2 beers!
Finally onto Ernies until 6am--Highlights: I met a guy with my same birthday; In our honour someone cracked a bottle of Champagne; I danced with a couple of real cuties!
The following photos are a mix of me mingling with several lovelies at the above locales.

Sweet 17!
(X3) Today, I celebrate the third anniversary of my 17th birthday! (Proof attached.) When I was home in October, I found a briefcase full of photos and stuff and since it's my party and I'll scry if I want to, here's a look back to some memorabilia from days gone by.
25 years ago when I was 13 kg lighter and a struggling Social Worker by day and struggling actor by night, I had an inept agent who got me next to no work. It couldn't have been because of my profile, because...well I'll let the photos speak for themselves:
I promised a while back that if I ever found it, I'd post the picture of Fraggle Rock I had. Much to my chagrin it was not signed as I'd misremembered.
High school buddy, Phil, sent me this photo earlier and here it is again in all its faded uncropped glory!
I won tickets to the third Star Trek movie premiere and although it was an odd-numbered one, it was still pretty good. There was a costume party afterwards and I put on a bathrobe, hung a fish from my ear and went as Arthur Dent. Needless to say no one figured it out except for a Dale Arden-clone with whom I fell in love.
My all time favourite movie is King Kong and I must say I have a soft spot for the Creature as well.
I don't care what anyone else says, I liked Yellowbeard!
Don't tell Mokugohan because this will be one of his Christmas presents today and the others are for his wife and daughter. (You'll have to figure out what goes to whom.) The GeGeGe pic is from a calendar of a dozen different anime that I'm using as wrapping paper.
If there really were a Santa Claus, this gal who I met at a Comic Convention ages ago would have ended up in my stocking this morning!
