An iconic line explained: 今作の名セリフとしてハン・ソロが炭素冷凍される直前のレイアの愛の告白に対する返事として放った“I know.（分かってる）”があるが、脚本では“I love you too.”であった。だが、「皮肉屋のソロが自ら『愛してる』と言うだろうか」というハリソン・フォードの提案により、上記のセリフへと変えられたという。ちなみに『ジェダイの帰還』ではソロとレイアが互いに逆のセリフを喋るシーンがある。
