Fantastic Fifty!

50 years ago today, the ファンタスティック・フォー,

Fantastic Four debuted. I've read the origin a few times in reprints (I was only 2 when it came out) and have always held a soft spot for the Fabulous Foursome. Sure Reed's a jerky, Johnny's a hothead, Sue's not much to look at but Ben Grimm is one of the best characters ever created in comic books. I've commented on the cartoon, the movies and on the demise of Johnny which led to the Fantastic Future Foundation (wtf?).

It certainly would have been nice if there was an actual FF in existence to celebrate their Golden Anniversary but since there isn't, I've scammed a version of their origin story and meeting with the Mole Man (one of my all-time favourite villains) from a little mag that came with the first DVD.

There's also a Power Pack story and a tale where they meet The Impossible Man, but they don't fit into today's theme.

As an added bonus, here is a Pin-up of a Fantastic Four/ Galaxy 999 mashup by 松本 零士, Leiji Matsumoto!
