Today Princess
Akishino gave birth to a baby boy, the first male heir to be born into the Imperial family in over 40 years. Prince
No-name will be named next week. Does this mean that Japan will not abolish the amendments to the succession laws that allow female heirs to become Empress? We'll have to wait and see.
Personally I'd like to see Princess
Aiko become Empress, but do you think that now that there is a male heir that they'd still allow a female to succeed? I doubt it.
