Where Wonders the Wooden Willy?

Michael, when are you going to stop with the bloody Curtain Call posts and show us something good? We want to see pictures of giant wooden phalluses being carried down the street!

Well, your prayers have been answered! Yesterday was 豊年祭 (Hounen Matsuri), a Harvest/ Fertility Festival celebrated every year on March 15th mainly in the town of Komaki, just north of Nagoya . Hounen means Rich Harvest in Japanese, while a matsuri is a festival or holiday. The Hounen festival and ceremony celebrate the blessings of a bountiful harvest and all manner of prosperity and fertility.

This should not be confused with the かなまら祭 (Kanamara Matsuri) reported here, also called the Festival of the Steel Phallus which is an annual Shinto fertility festival held in Kawasaki on the first Sunday in Spring which has also unofficially become a Gay-Pride day.

So if you like to drink your sake out of a Cock-carafe or a Johnson-jug, then here is where you should be heading.

I feel a little dirty posting all these prick-pics, so if you'd like to see some more, please check out this site.
